Expect the next several days to be super-windy in Qatar, with temperatures falling to as low as 14C (57F) in Doha at night, forecasters have said.
The high winds will run from Wednesday to Monday, peaking during the weekend. They usher in a colder period that marks the beginning of winter in Qatar, or Al-Marbaniah.
In a statement, the Qatar Meteorology Department (MET) said this season starts on Dec. 7 and lasts for about 40 days.
It continued:
“During Al-Marbaniah, cold conditions, cloudiness and rain increase in Arabian Peninsula as temperatures drop considerably especially at night time. In the past, Arabs used to associate seeing a star called Al-Ekhleel with beginning of Al-Marbaniah.”
Temps will reach a high of 22 to 26C (79F) during this time, and we will see lows of 14 to 18C at night.
Who’s looking forward to sweater weather (in the evenings)? Thoughts?
