The desert was filled with the sounds of classical music last night as the Doha String Quartet performed in Khor Al-Udaid for the first time.
The four performers, who are part of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, played Mozart.
They were accompanied by colleague and Syrian violinist Maias Alyamani, who joined in at the end in front of a crowd of some 95 Qatar residents-turned desert campers.
Dmitri Torchinsky, one of the quartet’s violinists, is a Russian expat who told Doha News that he plays at such events for fun. He added: “I love playing to different crowds to share the joy of music.”
The event was organized by Arabian Adventures Qatar, and organizers said they plan to continue holding musical events in the desert.
