Thursday, June 30Â will be the last working day for the public sector in Qatar before Eid Al Fitr holidays begin.
According to QNA, ministries, government institutions and public entities in Qatar will be off on Eid break starting Sunday, July 3.
Offices will reopen on Tuesday, July 12, the Emiri Diwan has announced.
That’s a total of 11 days counting weekends, which is in line with the holidays granted to the public sector in previous years.
The holiday schedule has also been announced recently in the UAE.
The public sector is likewise off starting this weekend, but will resume work earlier than Qatar on Sunday, July 10.
The exact date of Eid has yet to be announced, pending the sighting of the new moon, but is expected to begin on Wednesday, July 6.
Eid Al Fitr is the festival that marks the end of Ramadan and at least five days of activities have already been organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).
Private sector
In Qatar, employees working in the private sector usually get about three days off.
However, given that Eid coincides with school holidays for many, thousands of people are expected to leave the country for extended trips this summer.
With regards to financial firms, QNA said that the governor of the Qatar Central Bank will set the start and end dates for banks, QCB staff, QCB-supervised financial institutions and Qatar Financial Markets Authority.
Anyone who has paperwork to finish off may want to head to government offices over the next few days.
However, the Ministry of Interior does hold abbreviated hours for visa and traffic-related matters during the holidays.
