Astronomers are predicting a total lunar eclipse on Saturday that will be visible in Qatar for almost an hour.

The eclipse, which will be visible to all of Asia and Australia, is expected to begin at around 3:44pm local time, when the earth’s shadow engulfs the eastern section of the moon and slowly moves toward the northeastern section, said Sheikh Salman bin Jabor Al Thani, head of the Astronomy Department of the Qatar Scientific Club.

It will move from the partial to total phase by 5.04pm, move back to a partial phase by 5:55pm and end at 7:15pm, Al Thani predicts.

The last total lunar eclipse that could be seen from Qatar was in June, and totally wowed those who stayed awake long enough to watch it!
